A Collection of Poems and Short Stories
There was once a young bird, oh so free
Upon his face a smile would glee
His family and friends would dance upon the night
With only the moonlit sky to guide as the light
Songs of freedom they joyfully sang
With nothing to worry about, claw or fang
Months and years of joyful bringing
And the sound of the young bird's carefree cheering

But upon a night that one wouldn't forget
A joyous celebration filled with regret
As a fearsome predator hunts its prey
And the bird's celebration would be forgotten one day
Feathers would dance a marvelous sight
While the moonlit sky shines so bright
But such as a candle flame would rest
Even the light will die upon an empty nest
